Alex Munive
Global Girls Innovation Programme Manager, Plan International
Alex Munive is a development and gender specialist. Currently, he works for Plan International leading the Global Girls Innovation Programme (the GGIP). The GGIP is a collection of Plan’s flagship programmes on girls’ empowerment and rights that are known for quality programming, innovation, and results. Previously, Alex Munive worked as Deputy Programme Director of Plan Finland responsible for Programme Quality and Gender Equality.
Alex Munive has experience working in programmes that promote gender equality and social development in several countries in Asia, Latin America and Africa. He has worked as a consultant for the European Union, the Nordic Development Fund, the Inter-American Development Bank and the Finnish government. He led a programme for the prevention of domestic and gender based violence in Trinidad and Tobago, working closely with judges.
Most recently, Alex Munive has been participating in the development of Plan’s global initiative for promoting gender equality and education, “Because I am Girl”, designing, among others, programmes for engaging men and boys in the promotion girl rights and equality, school related gender based violence, urban safety for adolescent girls and child marriage.
Alex Munive holds a Master’s degree in Social Sciences from the University of Helsinki.
