Dr. Jorien Laermans is a methodological expert at the Centre for Evidence-Based Practice (CEBaP) of the Belgian Red Cross. At CEBaP, Jorien and her colleagues offer scientific support to the humanitarian aid and blood supply services of the Belgian Red Cross, by developing systematic reviews and evidence-based guidelines, as well as performing primary field research. In 2017, Jorien started working on the challenging and exciting project of developing evidence-based educational materials that can be used to teach first aid to children aged 5-18 years in sub-Saharan Africa. Jorien holds a PhD in Biomedical Sciences from the Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium).
