Augustine Saga
Itinerant teacher, IEPP Tône Est (Togo)
I am Mrs Saga Augustine, an itinerant teacher in charge of accompanying pupils with visual or intellectual disabilities at the IEPP Tône Est (Regional Directorate of Education of the Savannah in Togo).
Having entered the teaching profession through a national competitive examination in 2006, I served as an auxiliary teacher and then as a primary school teacher until June 2015. Having a strong interest in the right to schooling for all children, I am involved in the social and pedagogical support of children with disabilities through the itinerant teacher scheme set up as part of the implementation of inclusive education in Togo.
So far, I have accompanied fifty disabled children, including 21 girls, as well as 24 non-disabled pupils with serious difficulties at school. During the school year 2020 - 2021, I will accompany 9 visually disabled children and 16 intellectually disabled children.
I am proud of this job in the sense that I contribute to progressively getting many children out of their dependency and towards their autonomy. My motivation in this work comes from the fact that many of the disabled children I accompany succeed in their Certificat d'Etude du Premier Degré (CEPD).
