Coding club Rwanda (VVOB)

Educaid.be International Conference 2024

Session B | From Classroom to Work: Integrating Coding Skills and Labour Market Tracking in Rwanda

14:00-15:00 (Brussels time)

Join this session to explore two innovative approaches to education and labour market integration. VVOB in Rwanda will share key lessons from the Scratc²h project, which equips secondary school teachers with the skills to integrate coding into STEM and ICT lesson plans and establish after-school coding clubs. Additionally, IFEF and APEFE in Rwanda will present the Inserjeune app, a tool for measuring TVET graduates' labour market integration and employer satisfaction. The app provides real-time insights into job opportunities and aligns TVET training with labour market demands.

CASE 2 | Exploring Inserjeune App: Measuring TVET Graduates' Labor Market Integration and Employer Satisfaction

In 2018, the Institut de la Francophonie pour l’éducation et la formation (IFEF), a subsidiary body of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF), developed as a pilot action an application called Inserjeune. Inserjeune makes it possible to identify and specify the sectors with job opportunities by locality in real time and to guide future learners/students and TVET schools towards the jobs of the future. It also makes it possible to inform training schools on the degree of satisfaction of companies (employers) in order to improve the employability rate of graduates. In addition, it contributes to a better alignment between the supply and demand for training. It is a tool for measuring the external performance of the TVET system.
