Suwaibatou Bah

Suwaibatou Bah was born in The Gambia, West-Africa. She started working in The Swallow in 2002 as unqualified teacher in the early childhood classes. Very motivated to make progress, she attended Gambia College and obtained a Primary Teacher Certificate in 2009. In 2008, she won the Best Teacher's Award at the College. In 2009 she was promoted to senior teacher and a teacher trainer at The Swallow, and in 2011 she became its Vice Principal (Assistant Coordinator). In this capacity, she is responsible for training, observing and evaluating teachers, monitoring pupils’ attendance and health issues, and maintaining regular contact with parents – among many more tasks. In 2012 she enrolled in the Management Development Institute and was awarded a certificate in Management that same year.

Suwaibatou Bah has been taking part in the development of the pedagogical approach of The Swallow since its inception. With her contributions to the coordination and monitoring of the school, it achieved a “best result” qualification by the 2013 Coordinating Committee Meeting (CCM) of the Gambian Ministry of Education, which in its CCM report labeled The Swallow as a “model school”.
