Bonita is an Education Retention Expert with the Wezesha Binti Programme, a girls empowerment initiative implemented by Enabel in Kigoma, Tanzania. She leads interventions that merge health and education to increase school access and retention for vulnerable youth particularly girls by integrating empowering knowledge and skills on comprehensive sexuality education (CSE), menstrual hygiene management (MHM), and gender-responsive education into both school and community structures.
With a Master of Science in Project planning and Management and 15 years of experience in education programme management, youth empowerment, and gender-responsive education advocacy, she drives innovative approaches such as the Champions of Education model, MHM mobile tents, and action research. Her work centres on equipping adolescent girls, young mothers, and vulnerable learners with the tools to thrive in inclusive, equitable, and safe learning environments, showing that in times of polycrisis, holistic responses bridging health and education are essential for resilience and empowerment.
