Sara RUTO
Director, People’s Action for Learning (PAL) network
Dr Sara Ruto is the Director of the People’s Action for Learning (PAL) network. This network currently comprises civil society organizations that are conducting citizen led assessments in 13 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America.
Prior to this, she initiated the Uwezo citizen led process in Kenya in 2009, using evidence to draw public attention to children’s learning, before serving as Uwezo’s Regional Manager for Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
Dr Ruto was a lecturer at Kenyatta University for more than fifteen years, where she was a key researcher in primary education and school reform. Sara sits on the board of Women Educational Researchers of Kenya, The Global Reading Network and Longhorn Publishers. She holds a PhD in Education from Heidelberg University (Germany).
