Tom Vandenbosch
General Director | VVOB - education for development
Tom Vandenbosch is General Director of VVOB, where he leads an organisation working in close partnership with governments across Africa to strengthen education systems and improve learning outcomes. Over the past twenty years, he has supported education reform efforts in more than twenty countries, with a strong focus on teacher development, school leadership, gender equity, and system-level change.
His work centres on connecting global evidence and emerging insights in education reform, international cooperation, and financing with practical strategies that deliver results at scale. Through collaboration with ministries of education, development partners, and philanthropic actors, he is committed to ensuring that education investments are effective, sustainable, and responsive to the realities of fragile and crisis-affected contexts.
Tom is actively engaged in global education dialogue and learning. He serves on the World Bank’s Global Coach Technical Advisory Board, supports early childhood education as a Trustee of Sabre Education in Ghana, and contributes to discussions on education and social well-being through DPAM’s Country Sustainability Advisory Board.
He is driven by a strong commitment to advancing SDG 4 and to building partnerships that protect learning, strengthen resilience, and translate shared ambition into lasting impact for learners.
