Sofie Cabus obtained her PhD in education economics at Maastricht University (UM) in 2013. Her work focuses on the empirical evaluation of interventions and policy measures in both compulsory and adult education, with particular attention to continuous professional development of teachers and school leaders in a precarious context. Professor Cabus teaches lifelong learning at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences and also serves as manager of the Research Group Education and the  Labour Market at the Institute for Work and Society (HIVA), University of Leuven, Belgium.
