Due to the humanitarian situation, the Humanity & Inclusion team in Lebanon is unable to present during this session. As a result, MSF Academy will replace HI and join Session C instead of Session D. Thank you for understanding.
Three organisations will share inspiring educational projects implemented across various countries in this session. Enabel takes us to Uganda, Burkina Faso, and Palestine to showcase the different educational pathways they have been supporting to strengthen digital skills. Afrodidact highlights its efforts in The Gambia, focusing on integrating ICT into primary schools. Finally, the MSF Academy introduces its innovative approaches to digital learning at the hospital in Bangui, Central African Republic. These projects aim to enhance digital skills, improve infrastructure, and address connectivity challenges in remote areas. From Enabel’s digital skills support adapted to the local context to Afrodidact’s lessons learnt and MSF Academy’s creative use of digital tools, these presentations provide valuable insights into the future of digital education and skills.
PROGRAMME
CASE 1 | Multiple education pathways to strengthen digital skills
Enabel will share the different educational pathways they have adopted to strengthen different types of digital skills. The first presentation will focus on Enabel’s work on integrating digital skills in teacher training in Uganda. In Palestine, Enabel aims to develop young people into active and critical citizens by supporting the acquisition of STEAM and 21st-century skills, including digital skills, by organising broader extra-curricular STEAM activities. Digital skills are essential for digital education, digital citizenship, and employment. Most jobs today require some level of general or sector-specific digital skills. Enabel has, therefore, supported digital skills training for entrepreneurship and employment, ensuring that all workers can make the most out of digital technologies for their professional activities (Uganda and Burkina Faso).
CASE 2 | Lessons learned from 7 years of implementing IT in Gambian primary schools
In this session, the non-profit association Afrodidact will share experiences and insights from seven years of deploying computer infrastructure and software in Gambian primary schools through the KUBO digital project.
CASE 3 | Using Beekee hub to provide access to eLearning in Bangui hospital
In February 2024, the MSF Academy for Healthcare conducted a pilot test of the Beekee Hub tool at the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Communautaire (CHUC) in Bangui, Central African Republic. The hospital in Bangui has limited internet access, which hinders the nursing staff's ability to participate in the MSF Academy learning program. During this practical session, we will share our reflections, challenges faced and feedback from the learners.
