Racha Nasreddine

Country Director, British Council Syria

Racha Nasreddine is the Country Director for British Council Syria – currently based in Beirut, Lebanon – working with Syrians wherever they are, providing them with opportunities to grow and thrive, and connecting them to international experiences. She leads on strategic planning, business development and operational management of Syria related operations. 

British Council Syria focuses both on higher education through the HOPES (Higher and Further Education Opportunities and Perspectives for Syrians) project, and on language training for Syrian refugees in surrounding countries. It is also trying to maintain connections inside Syria in the higher education sector so that the countries academics are not isolated from the international education environment.

Prior to her position at the British Council, Racha worked in multiple countries across the Middle East and North Africa, focusing on socioeconomic development, civil society development and citizens engagement, social entrepreneurship and disability.

Racha holds a BA in Sociology and an MA in Non-profit Organisations Management.
