Evelien Storme

Evelien Storme (1983) has a PhD in social and cultural anthropology (KULeuven, 2022). She holds a Masters in Philosophy (KULeuven) and a Masters in International Relations from Stellenbosch University, South Africa. As Senior Researcher at HIVA-KU Leuven, she is involved in national and international research projects on decent work and social protection, poverty reduction, and art education.
Her experience as a qualitative researcher spans over fifteen years and during this time she has built up a thematic and methodological expertise related to development opportunities of local communities in broader socio-economic and historical local contexts.
Previous international work experience includes policy think tanks and multidisciplinary research institutes in Brussels, London, Johannesburg and Cape Town, as well as a Marie-Sklodowska-Curie Fellow in the “Anthropology of Human Security”, a Horizon2020 project of the European Commission. Her doctoral thesis was shortlisted for the VDK Prize for Sustainable Development, 2022.
