The ease or difficulty with which young people can transition from school to work has a lasting impact on their lives and prospects in the world of work. With more than one in five – 23.5 percent – of young people (aged 15-24) not in education, employment, or training (NEET) globally, the process remains a challenge for many  (ILO, 2023). For youth in low- and middle-income countries, and young women, school-to-work transitions (SWT) are particularly bumpy (ILO, 2022).

The SWT Roundtable will give insight into what SWT data can teach education practitioners and provide space to explore, discuss, and give feedback on practical examples of education initiatives from three regions that aim to smoothen young people’s school-to-work transitions.
