WAPA – War-Affected People’s Association – fights against the use of children in armed conflict and supports their reintegration into a stronger community.
How?
In Colombia & DRC, WAPA works with local partners in post-conflict states or countries en route to peace. It finances their reintegration programs.
In the north, WAPA conducts awareness and advocacy campaigns about the issue of child soldiers in order to put an end to their recruitment (prevention, demobilisation, reintegration)
WAPA works in 3 areas:
- Health and well-being: from building a maternity ward to psycho-social support through art therapy
- Education: guaranteeing access to schooling & vocational training
- Micro-entrepreneurship or the granting of means of subsistence in the form of allowances or in kind.
