ARES is the alliance of higher education institutions of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation in Belgium. Its role is to guarantee the public service mission of general interest in higher education, to support institutions in their teaching, research and community service missions, to ensure their overall coordination and to encourage national and international collaboration. As an actor in academic cooperation, ARES coordinates initiatives from institutions for higher education and professional training aimed at mutually reinforcing individual and institutional capacities, developing research and training, and supporting innovation. This cooperation is operationalised through seven funding instruments.
