Shivananda Salgame is a social entrepreneur, problem solver and gardener with huge belief in human potential. He has over 20 years of diverse experience in IT, education and e-Governance, has managed a multimillion dollar business and has been responsible for managing large teams of more than 500 staff. Over the years, he has been mentor and guide to several of his team members, which has helped him understand and appreciate human potential.
Shivananda Salgame was deeply influenced by the statement by John Dewey, “If we teach today’s child… like we did yesterday…. we rob them of their tomorrow.”
In his quest to find real solutions to problems and with the purpose of making education more engaging and enriching through technology, he quit his corporate role with a desire to be an agent for social change while fulfilling his entrepreneurial ambition.
Shivananda Salgame co-founded the ED-Tech Startup Guru-G Learning Labs in 2013, with a focus on empowering teachers through technology. Guru-G Learning Labs builds solutions to enable teachers with technology to improve the quality of teaching-learning process in the classroom and make classrooms more engaging and enriching.
Guru-G Learning Labs was selected by Unreasonable Institute, Colorado for a global voyage – Unreasonable at Sea – during 2013, travelling across 16 countries for over 100 days, with 650 students from 212 universities in 31 countries.
With the passion to bridge the urban-rural divide through technology, Guru-G Learning Labs started building technology solutions which would work in extremely remote locations. They currently work across 7 states in India, largely in forest areas. Through support from various Foundations and Corporations they are working with over 500 schools in these forest areas since 2014, in multiple Indian languages.
Currently, Guru-G Learning Labs also works with premium schools across India through Global Leading Educational Publishers and with GE Healthcare.
Shivananda Salgame has been associated with several initiatives to improve quality of education and has been invited as speaker for several internationally reputed institutes. He regularly conducts workshops for teachers on the role of technology in classroom, attended so far by 5000+ pre-service and in-service teachers.
