MacKenzie Monserez is an education in emergencies expert with over 15 years of experience in education in emergencies, inter‑agency coordination, and technical leadership across global, regional, and country levels. She has worked with Save the Children International for 12 years in education leadership roles across the Middle East, East and Southern Africa, including leading education responses and coordination in complex crises such as Syria, Iraq, South Sudan, Somalia, Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Mozambique, and Greece.
She currently serves as Deputy Coordinator of the Global Education Cluster, where she supports global cluster leadership, drives strategic priorities, and oversees inter‑agency collaboration to strengthen education coordination in crisis‑affected contexts. Her leadership has been central to advancing system‑wide preparedness and anticipatory action in the education sector, including establishing inter‑agency partnerships and leading the development of global guidance and tools, notably on coordinated approaches to anticipatory action and cross‑sectoral collaboration with child protection. MacKenzie holds a Master of Education (Ed.M) in International Education Policy from Harvard University and a M.A. in International Relations from the University of St Andrews.
