Karla Van Leeuwen

Karla Van Leeuwen is Full Professor in parenting and family studies at KU Leuven’s Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, at the Parenting and Special Education Research Unit. Her research focuses on the interplay between parenting, family dynamics, and child/adolescent development, including work on children with special needs.

Since 2015, she has been actively engaged in collaborative research and capacity-building projects in Tanzania, in partnership with the Open University of Tanzania. These projects, supported by VLIRUOS, aim to strengthen parental involvement in education and promote sexual and reproductive health education.
