Evelien Masschelein is director of thematic expertise for the Belgian agency for international cooperation. She has extensive experience abroad as a technical expert in education, training and employment and as country representative both in Africa, Latin America and the Middle East. Through long-term bilateral partnership with over 20 countries in Africa, the Middle East and Ukraine, Belgian’s agency, Enabel, accompanies the public and private sector, academia and civil society organisations in system wide strengthening in the fields of climate action; social & economic empowerment; peace, stability & democracy; and demographic trends.
As an instrument of Belgian foreign affairs, Enabel is both a Belgian and European actor, actively involved in shaping the transition from a pure development perspective to a paradigm of international cooperation.
