Elena Briones Alonso obtained her PhD in applied development economics in 2017, and is an interdisciplinary sustainability researcher today. As a (post-)doctoral researcher, Elena worked on topics related to food policies and systems, and the interface between culture and fisheries, food security, and health. At HIVA-KU Leuven since 2020, she has engaged in policy research on social protection and decent work, human rights, civil society, and sustainability in a context of international cooperation.
