Background information

Statistics indicate that just 9% of African youth have access to tertiary education, whereas the global average stands at 38%. In Rwanda, the gross enrollment rate for higher education is 7%. Concurrently, there is a significant demand for graduates from technical schools in the country. The main barrier to accessing quality education is the lack of financial resources. Traditional financial institutions perceive the youth segment as risky, making it crucial to create a financial tool that enables youth to pursue education now and repay later.

Recognizing this pressing need, Cedric Nsengiyumva, Acting Country Lead at Chancen International in Rwanda, steps forward. With years of experience in business development and microfinance, Cedric brings a wealth of expertise to Chancen's mission. "I am enthusiastic about contributing to a noble cause by removing obstacles to education access and improving social mobility," comments Cedric. His professional journey spans various countries, including Haiti and South Africa, with brief but impactful stints in Angola and Mozambique.
